- Make sure there is a dot next to the Encrypt option. Then click on the ... button next to File(s) to be Encrypted field to display the Open file dialog box. (If you already know the path and files you want to encrypt you can just type them in the field.)
- Browse through your computer and select a file to encrypt. Press Open. You may further edit the path and filename directly by clicking on the path or filename. For example, to encrypt all the files in the directory you have chosen just replace the filename with "*.*" without quotes of course.
- Click on the ... button next to the Encrypted Output File field to display the Save As... dialog box. Browse through your hard drive until you are in the directory you want the encrypted output file to be created in. When you get there type in a name for the output file and press Save or the Enter key. Again, you may further edit the path and filename directly by clicking on the path or filename in the field. The path must exist, but the filename will be created so it shouldn't already exist.
- Next put the cursor in the Passphrase field and carefully type your passphrase. Passphrases are case-sensitive so make sure you pay attention to whether the Shift or the Caps Lock is down.
- If you want to create a self-decrypting executable put a check in the box under the passphrase field. Doing this will add a ".exe" extension to your output file and attach the encrypted output file to a special version of MEP that will only decrypt files attached to it by the full program.
- Click the Start button to start encrypting.
