How To...

Remap the WordPerfect 8 keyboard so that you can use macros more effectively.

1. Select Settings from the Tools Menu. (If you are using 6.1 or 7.0 select Properties from the Edit Menu.)

2. Double-click Customize.

3. Bring the Keyboards tab forward by clicking on it, then highlight <WPWin 8 Keyboard>, and click the Edit button.

4. This brings up the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog. You can now scroll through the list of available shortcuts on the left of the dialog and highlight which one you want to use for the macro you are mapping. Once you have highlighted the shortcut key you want bring the Macros tab forward by clicking on it. Then click the "Assign Macro to Key..." button.

5. WordPerfect now wants you to choose which macro you will assign to the selected shortcut. (From this dialog you may select any macro on your hard drive, just browse through the directories as you would if you were looking for a file.) When you have found and highlighted the macro you want to assign click the Select button.

6. A dialog will then pop up asking you if you want to save the macro with the full path. Click the Yes button.

If you have more macros to map you can do so by repeating steps 4-6. When you are done creating shortcuts just click the Okay or Close buttons until you are back at your standard WordPerfect screen.
